Q&A

What inspires you to do the work you do?

I think winning paid family leave in the U.S. would be an incredible, transformational moment for our country. The first ever policy that gives anybody the right to paid time off—that’s HUGE for our families and something that will help literally everyone. I’m inspired by the vision of that.

What are you most proud of?

Most recently, helping over 5 million people get access to higher quality paid family leave at their workplaces. That work focused on people who aren’t making huge paychecks, and it feels important both as a tangible improvement in people’s lives and as a powerful symbol of why equality is so important when it comes to time with our families.

On Sunday afternoons, you can find me...

At home doing chores and my weekly cooking while a posse of little girls runs around my house making slime and breaking things. It’s my favorite day of the week.
