Q&A

What inspires you to do the work you do?

I originally started Winnie out of a personal frustration as a working mom looking for child care and other information that I needed as a parent. Now that I’m four years into building Winine, I’m motivated by the impact that I am having on not just my own life, but parents and providers everywhere. There was really a missing marketplace for child care in the United States. Without a child care marketplace, it’s hard for parents to go back to work after having kids and it’s hard for providers to find new families in an efficient way. The impact I’m having is now what gets me out of bed each day (that and my kids yelling for me).

What are you most proud of?

My kids, even though I can personally take very little credit. Even the smallest things like my little one learning her colors or my older one helping her sister are just huge sources of pride for me. Children are literally our future and I think one of the most important things we can collectively do is raise this next generation of humans.

“A family-friendly culture is the same thing as an employee-friendly culture.” —Anne Halsall, Winnie Co-founder. I love this quote from my co-founder that gets at the core of how we built Winnie. We set out to create the most family-friendly startup out there, one that supports parents as they navigate child bearing and child rearing. As a result, we have found we are able to attract and retain world-class talent and have some of the most dedicated, loyal folks I’ve ever worked with.
