Valencia White is a 17-year-old senior at El Cerrito High School. She found her passion for writing at YR Media, a national network of young journalists and artists who create content for this generation. Valencia’s work has been featured on YR Media, Teen Vogue, NPR and The Huffington Post. Her reporting on mental health was part of a YR Media series that won a 2018 Gracie Award. She aims to lift up the voices of those who have been silenced and share her own stories.
