Carolyn McGourty Supple serves as cofounder and executive director of The Press Forward, overseeing the nonprofit initiative’s mission to advance news culture and elevate women in the workplace through training, education and research. A former journalist for ABC News, and management consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, Carolyn is a skilled strategist and leader with experience working with organizations facing digital disruption, culture change and the future of work. She has advised numerous nonprofits, government agencies and private companies on strategic planning, innovation and commercial strategy.
While at Booz Allen, she also piloted open-source software and data science projects and scouted emerging technologies for the U.S. government. At ABC News, Carolyn worked for the flagship “World News” broadcast, The Barbara Walters Specials and was part of the founding team that stood up the first broadcast on energy and the environment, “Focus Earth with Bob Woodruff.”
Carolyn also currently serves as Visiting Professor with the Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin, and as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Marin Sonoma Impact Ventures. She received her Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School, where she was a student fellow with the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and the Shorenstein Center for Press, Politics and Public Policy. She’s honored to serve on the Global Leadership Board for the TIME’S UP Foundation.
