A Note from Melinda
Patience is a virtue—most of the time. It’s a virtue when it comes to how you treat the people around you. It’s also important to be patient with yourself. But I’d never urge someone to be patient in the face of inequality.
As I’ve traveled across the country talking to people about my new book, they’ve told me they want change and they want it now. Both men and women agree that equality can’t wait. Not anymore. That’s why our theme for the May edition of Evoke is impatience.
Here you’ll find essays, photographs, and stories that explain why so many of us feel impatient for progress—and how we intend to channel that impatience into action.
